Hello all, and welcome to 2010, this will be my first post for the year and sadly I am not a proud owner of a flying car yet
Maybe 2020? Well I am here typing my latest blog post about/using my new North Face gloves! It’s actually easier to type with them on than I thought. The gloves are a pair of North Face’s latest ETIP line, basically they have conductive surfaces on the thumbs and index fingers.
Ok, just got on the Yamanote Line now so taking them off, they do after all, increase typos and slow me down a bit, but that would be expected. For regular use on the iphone… basic tasks such as maps, phone, and light typing like web search, SMS and small emails they work like a charm.
Definitely beats cold hands.
But why do we need “special gloves” to use the iPhone you ask? Well the iPhone’s touch screen doesn’t use pressure like other PDA’s, instead it uses an special layer of electrically sensitive material that can sense the bioelectricity in your fingertips. ANY barrier on the skin thick enough will prevent use.
But you don’t have to buy fancy gloves, this post descibes how you can make your own by attaching conductive surfaces to your own gloves but they wouldn’t look as cool… These
ones make me feel like a cyborg because of the desgins on the palms.
Thanks to Amber my lil sister for the Christmas gift, great idea sis!
